Position Responsibilities

IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented EPCM Project Manager who will join and help lead our industry leading EPCM Project Management Team out of our Overland Park, KS office working on-site at a Client in the Wichita, KS area.

 

The Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) Project Manager provides leadership on assigned projects and acts to achieve technical, financial, safety, and client relationship objectives. He/she owns the project from preliminary engineering through execution to turn over and close out.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage delivery of individual projects and is responsible for the achievement of cost, schedule and quality objectives.
  • Oversee the entire Project Team’s activities to ensure discipline and/or team members achieve their objectives and deliverables.
  • Ensure achievement of safety objectives on assigned projects.
  • Ensure achievement of IPS corporate goals for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with Design, Project Controls, Construction and C/Q/V (if applicable) Department Leadership to deliver successful projects.
  • Coordinate resources to achieve project goals.
  • Manage client interaction on assigned projects and promote positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Identify potential risks to projects and IPS then work with Project Executives and the Operations Directors to mitigate risks.
  • Support the development of prime contract(s) with Client and develop working knowledge of prime contract(s) requirements.
  • Develop and maintain written overall EPCM project execution plans, including Design, preconstruction construction and closeout. Obtain review and approval from Project Executive, Director of EPCM, Directors of Operations, and communicate relevant information to the project team.
  • Develop and maintain written project scopes of work (SOW) and communicate relevant information to the project team.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules (including targeted and actual activities lists, durations, sequencing logic and communicates) to project team. Work closely with Construction Manager and Site Superintendent to monitor performance against target schedule and implement corrective actions against nonconformances. Coordinate design, commissioning, and qualification schedule requirements within construction schedule.
  • Work with Estimating team to develop project budgets and coordinate delivery of basis documents to Estimating. Obtain review and approval from Project Executive, Director of EPCM, Directors of Operations, and communicate relevant information to the project team.
  • Work with the Procurement Discipline and project team to develop a procurement strategy and plan. Review bid tabulations and prepare/review RFA/RTA packages.
  • Work with Project Controls Department to monitor and report project costs, including values committed, forecast to commit, allowances for growth, and actually expended. Work closely with Construction Manager and Superintendents to ensure that field events, conditions, exceptions, and issues are fully reflected in cost reports. Carefully forecasts final cost of project periodically.
  • Manage changes to prime contract(s), including change control documentation and related financial documentation; vigorously protect IPS’ corporate positions.
  • Coordinate with the Financial Department to invoice clients and manage Accounts Receivable so that corporate goals are met. Also, work with Financial Department to manage project financial issues.
  • Ensure achievement of contractually required quality in design, and work with Construction Manager and Superintendents to ensure achievement of contractually required quality in construction.
  • On assigned projects oversee site safety and coordinate with Construction Managers, Superintendents and safety resources, including subconsultants, to establish site safety programs, monitor site safety and correct nonconformances.
  • Monitor design content and coordinate design revisions for constructability and compliance with basis documents, schedule, and budget.
  • Procure and coordinate all required project resources, including intradivisional, interdivisional, and extracorporate.
  • Prepare and manage subcontracts and purchase orders, including change control documentation and related financial documentation.
  • Coordinate with Financial Department to evaluate vendor and subcontractor invoices and arrange for payment as required to meet project and corporate goals.
  • Ensure fluid, organized, documented communication between all project participants.
  • Ensure that all project documents are distributed, reviewed, and stored in a manner that meet the project(s) and IPS’ Corporate requirements. Project documents include records of communications, design documents, bid packages and addenda and bulletins thereto, and submittals, among others.
  • Ensure that all IPS Design, Construction, Procurement, and, when applicable, C/Q/V, activities on EPCM projects. Comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Manage submissions and payments to authorities having jurisdiction to obtain permits for all IPS activities.
  • Special projects as assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in EPCM Project Delivery, 5 of which must be in a Project Management role.
