Position Responsibilities

IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Process Packaging Engineer to join our industry leading Global Strategy and Technology team at our state of the art corporate headquarters located in Blue Bell, PA.


The Process Packaging Engineer will conceptualize and lead Packaging and Inspection process design services that support manufacturing and operational processes for cutting-edge pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device facilities. This individual should have experience with OSD and parenteral packaging and inspection equipment such as vial and syringe inspection equipment, labelers, syringe assembly, device assembly, blister thermoformers, cartoners, casepackers, printers and vision systems. The right candidate will have the ability to create line layouts and process flow diagrams, develop project scope, program packaging suites, generate conceptual designs, have an understanding of cGMP regulatory compliance, and manage equipment vendor activity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and take ownership of Master Planning.
  • Define packaging design philosophies and facility design parameters.
  • Assess project requirements, break project into tasks and work with Project Manager and design team members to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.
  • Write scope of work for designs based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
  • Participate in proposal presentations.
  • Present packaging design information to project teams in a clear and concise manner.
  • Create packaging equipment design specifications (URS) and purchase specifications.
  • Review and provide comments on equipment vendor supplied lifecycle documents (FRS, DDS, SDS, RA).
  • Assign and review work of project design team. Check progress of work and alert Project Manager about scope changes or additional services.
  • Coordinate the activities of equipment vendors from concept through design, installation and commissioning.
  • Promote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards.
  • Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for design questions.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10 + Years of Packaging Equipment Engineering experience within the Pharmaceutical industry focusing on Aseptic and OSD dosage forms is considered a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, mechanical, manufacturing Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Experience working in a cGMP environment is highly desired.
  • Proven experience leading packaging conceptual design efforts.
  • Extensive proven experience interacting and communicating directly with clients. Active participation in industry organizations and related initiatives is strongly preferred (for example: speaking engagements, presenting at industry events and conferences, etc.).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on more than one project at a time.
