  • Position Responsibilities

    IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Director, Gene/Cell Therapy to join our industry leading Strategy & Technology team at either our Blue Bell, PA (suburban Philadelphia), Chelmsford, MA (suburban Boston) or Irvine, CA (suburban Newport Beach!) locations.

     

    The Director of Gene/Cell Therapy provides Leadership in the bioprocesses associated with the latest Lentivirus and AAV based gene and cell therapies as well as ensuring that the service level is maintained and projects delivered are technically driven, accurate and of high quality. This specialist provides mentorship to our team of chemical engineers to expand the technical bioprocess knowledge of the entire IPS organization in these new therapies; this includes understanding equipment technology, process flows, material balances and deliverables consistent with our industry.

     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Interfaces with technical client counterparts and assesses client needs.
    • Develops conceptual bioprocess project scope.
    • Collaborates with process and project architects in the process architecture development and may include process architecture skills if present
    • Generates process sections of conceptual and basis of design packages inclusive of process flow diagrams and capacity analysis.
    • Supports project managers in development of next-phase design and/or implementation plans.
    • Mentors entry and mid-level engineers in gene and cell therapy bioprocessing, technologies, and equipment selection/sizing for process equipment.
    • Participates in process engineering, design review, and associated quality control activities.
    • Leads process related design reviews to identify critical aspects.
    • Assists in the reviews and approval of process submittals when necessary.
    • Supports vendor FAT, SAT execution and approval when necessary.
    • Cultivates and maintains client and vendor network.
    • Assists in the enhancement of standards, templates, and procedures around their subject matter. 
    • Creates URS documents to support project and clients process equipment needs.
    • Communicates regularly with senior management at IPS, communicates resource needs in advance to ensure highest quality product.
    • Supports special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors, Masters and/or PhD degree in Engineering, Biotechnology or a related field.
    • Minimum of 15 years of diversified engineering experience, at least 10 of which have been working on or in facilities and/or planning, designing of biotechnology facilities and processes.
    • Well versed knowledge and technical leadership in gene therapies, antibody and vaccine manufacturing processes. 
    • Progressive ability, capacity and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation from others.
    • Analytical thinking, structured problem solving skills
    • Strong communications skills, team building and exemplary work ethic.
    • Must be able to build rapport with Client, department and IPS staff.
