We are looking for an energetic and talented Lead CAD/BIM Designer to join our exciting German “start-up” to be based either in Frankfurt or in Nuremberg with remote working flexibility.

The Lead Designer works on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager/relevant director. This individual works with the Engineering and Design Staff which is made up of Mechanical / Electrical / Building Services / Process Engineers, Project Managers, Designers, Architects and other personnel to define and implement BIM/CAD applications for given projects and will be tasked with the recruitment and leadership of a team of CAD Design Engineers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Project delivery using 2D and 3D based software.
• Coordinates BIM/CAD projects with all disciplines to complete projects on schedule and within budgets.
• Develops and implements quality control procedures for BIM/CAD production.
• Develops standards for BIM/CAD production and assists Discipline Heads and Project Managers to determine what projects, or portions of projects, should be produced on the CAD system.
• Provides training support in Revit/AutoCAD/BIM360 to Project and Process Engineers across all engineering disciplines
• Develops design concepts; prepares documents during design development phase.
• Corrects and updates design documents. Develops solutions to design problems.    
• Uses computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings and construction documents.
• Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.
• Attends pre-bid meetings and assists the project team in evaluating commercial proposals.
• Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
• Interacts with clients to determine scope and design intent.
• Routinely archives and retrieves data from electronic database for support of work.  
• Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
• Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the Project Designer/Engineer.
• Coordinates design work with related engineering disciplines.
• Attend job and construction meetings and participate in the coordination of the work via models.  
• Provides contribution to performance reviews for assigned staff.
• Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of previous design experience.
• Architectural and/or Engineering degree (preferably German Dipl-Ing.) or vocational training (Ausbildung) in technical design, drafting or architectural design from an accredited technical institutionuniversity
• Must be proficient in the use of computer for design and model set-up and managenemt, preferably BIM360 for model hosting.
• Must be able to use AutoCAD, Revit, and AutoCAD Plant3D.  
• Working knowledge of other software such as Microstation, DDS17, etc. beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication and organisational skills are required to effectively accomplish assigned tasks.
• General knowledge of architectural, mechanical and electrical system design. 
• Experience with Standards development.
• Beneficial experience with Revit family development and Dynamo script development.
• Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes.
• Proven time management skills in order to juggle more than one project at time.  
• Customer Service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills.  
• Process industrial experience, especially in the Life Sciences industries, is preferred. (Biotechnology/Cell & Gene)
• Must be fluent in English and German (B2 level and above)
