We are looking for an energetic and talented Senior Bioprocess Engineer to join our Swiss operations headquartered in Basel with remote working flexibility.
YOUR ROLE
The Senior Bioprocess Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and supporting utilities on a scale that can range from developmental pilot plant to full commercial production.
- Coordinate with project managers to determine project scope, complexity and schedule for project
- Develop project execution plans (budget, milestones, deliverables and staffing plans) to deliver project on time, on budget and of the highest quality.
- Assist client in strategic evaluations to develop concepts supported by engineering studies for expanding, improving or automating existing facilities.
- Write scope of work for process, utilities and manufacturing controls based on preliminary reviews with the client.
- Complete design deliverables for single unit operations through entire facility flow including, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Material and Energy Balances, utility requirements and Process P&IDs that include controls strategy and CIP/SIP functions, if appropriate.
- Ensure completion of quality specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
- Make use of and participate in development of company design tools including process simulation and smart P&IDs (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SuperPro, etc.).
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and members of the IPS design
- Special projects as assigned.

At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to life sciences. We are looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to join our Swiss Team headquartered in Basel with remote working flexibility.
The Electrical Engineer assists in planning, designing and directing electrical engineering projects. Assignments contain specific tasks on project teams and the Electrical Engineer is expected to use their education, creativity and expertise to resolve the engineering problems and tasks as assigned. However, more experienced staff will always be available to help the Engineer when needed.
YOUR ROLE
- Prepare design computations and quantity estimates and develops probable construction cost estimates for the smaller, less complex projects within the business unit
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
- Modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies and designs for project.
- Make calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, etc.
- Create specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams.
- Select equipment based on recommendations of Project Designer/Engineer and fills out equipment schedules.
- Provide drawing for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters.
- Research design options and document findings for Project Designer/Engineer.
- Keep Project Manager informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services.
- Provide information to Project Manager for incorporation into specifications.
- Research code issues and ask general questions of code officials.
- Organize and maintain project files. Maintains a neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
- Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

We are looking for a talented (Senior) HVAC Engineer to join our industry leading Design Engineering Team in Switzerland based in Basel with remote working flexibility. The HVAC Engineer works independently on various projects as assigned by the Discipline Director or a Senior Project Manager and will oversee the entire HVAC design process and assist as a technical expert on specialised design projects within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Medical Device industries.
YOUR ROLE
- Assesses project requirements, breaks projects into tasks, and works with Project Managers to determine scope of work while overseeing budget and staffing.
- Writes scopes of work for mechanical designs (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Utilities) based on preliminary review and client meetings.
- Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new HVAC systems and analyses the operation of existing systems.
- Ability to analyse existing HVAC and central utility plant systems and equipment and determine applicability for use in renovation projects.
- Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
- Assigns and reviews the work of the project design teams, checks the progress of the work, and alerts Project Managers of scope changes or additional services.
- Ability to perform target cost design work when projects have initial target construction costs.
- Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within IPS, externally with clients, and with other relevant design professionals.
- Ability to develop mechanical discipline specific construction budgets based on the project scope.

The Clean Utilities Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and supporting utilities on a scale that can range from developmental pilot plant to full commercial production.
YOUR ROLE
- Coordinates with project managers to determine project scope, complexity and schedule for project development.
- Develops project execution plans (budget, milestones, deliverables and staffing plans) to deliver project on time, on budget and of the highest quality.

- Writes scope of work for process, utilities and manufacturing controls based on preliminary reviews with the client.

- Complete design for utilities generation and distribution systems. Generate P&IDs for critical utility systems, such as WFI, USP Purified Water, Clean Steam and Process Gases.
- Ensure completion of quality specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
- Make use of and participate in development of company design tools including process simulation and smart P&IDs (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SuperPro, etc.).
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and members of the IPS design team.
- Estimate utility requirements for new manufacturing processes, design utilities generation and distribution systems.
- Perform engineering studies for expanding, improving or automating existing facilities with limited supervision.
- Produce specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
- Assume ownership of the process-related aspects of a portion of a large project or an entire small project, and provide technical support to the design team.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and members of the IPS design team.

Ideally, the role will be based out of our Ireland offices (Dublin or Cork), however, any of our other EMEA offices, including Birmingham, Manchester, Basel, Frankfurt, and Nürnberg will be an option too. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the IPS EHS governance structure across EMEA continues to develop in line with regulatory and industry best practice requirements. You’ll provide strategic leadership and expertise across all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety to support compliance with Corporate and EMEA EHS regulations and policies. You’ll promote positive influence and collaboration with colleagues and partner with other third-party stakeholders to maintain focus on IPS’s Mission Zero behavioural risk programme.
The position will report directly to the EMEA Operations Director. You will have matrixed responsibility for Design and Engineering, Construction Management, and CQV departments regarding environmental health and safety across the EMEA region in support of the Regional Directors.
Position Responsibilities
- Acts as the overall programme owner for EHS governance across all functions within IPS EMEA
- Ensures that the full EHS programme is aligned with the IPS Global programme and industry best practices and standards.
- Establishes annual plans and collaborates with key stakeholders to integrate EHS site goals, objectives, and programme of work.
- Assesses impacts of emerging issues and changes business strategies as it relates to EHS programmes and initiatives.
- Understands current trends and innovations in Environmental Sustainability, Energy efficiency, Net carbon Zero, Building Management Systems, and Data Analytics.
- Ensures EHS is integrated into procurement policy and part of all Technical Bid analyses and selection criteria across EMEA Projects.
- Chairs the regional EHS meetings to track, monitor, and measure the progress of the agreed objectives set.
- Leads environmental sustainability initiatives to develop and deliver sustainability on projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates with other stakeholders and functions within IPS to ensure an effective Environmental Social Governance (ESG) programme is in place.
- Coordinates the regional EHS Teams in ensuring compliance with country-specific safety regulations and corporate standards on all IPS-managed projects.
- Participates in project compliance audits and supports the EHS Leads in ensuring that audits are compliant with IPS governance framework and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that the EMEA EHS team has the core competencies and the skill base to manage the risk profile of their office and projects. Implement continued professional development plans and facilitate career progression potential.
- Oversees the collation of all EMEA KPIs from the site to one central dashboard using an agreed software solution.
- Reviews collated incident data at regular intervals with the EMEA EHS Group in terms of root cause analysis, lessons learned, and cases that have not been closed satisfactorily.
- Reports incident trends at regular intervals to the IPS Senior Leadership Team and agrees on strategies for improvements to be implemented at project and procedural levels.
- Prepares budgets and forecasts to support the delivery of safety behavioral and cultural initiatives across EMEA.
- Oversees the emergency and crisis management plans across EMEA and ensures related plans are optimized, tested mad remain effective.
Travel Requirements
In this role, you will travel up to 50% of your time for various purposes including Project kick-off meetings, Project Technical EHS reviews, Third-party stakeholder reviews/meetings, Incident Investigations, Project Audits, etc.
